Allegion US, a leading provider of security solutions, technology and services, has introduced the latest addition to the Schlage® L Series: Motorized Latch Retraction mortise locks, a multi-category winner in the Campus Security Today Secure Campus Awards. First released to the market in March 2025, latch retraction capable L Series Grade 1 locks create application opportunities across many markets, whether the need is security, controlled access or hands-free operation. They can replace the need for electric strike use in a form that is more secure and aesthetically pleasing. Quiet operation makes them ideal for healthcare environments or anywhere disturbances from repeated user exit and entry occurs. Schlage L Series Mortise Latch Retraction Locks

Designed for quiet, controlled access with momentary or continuous (push/pull) operation, the L Series latch retraction functions provide versatile hands-free solutions for accessible restrooms, infection control areas, and delivery/cart access. They are also ideal for limited or timed access openings like employee entrances and visitor vestibules. The patent-pending auto sense feature detects side load and adjusts accordingly. Available functions include passage, storeroom, institution, and three with separate lever control supporting positive latching in fail safe or fail secure modes.
