Dear Members,

As we wrap up 2022, I would like to thank everyone for making this year a success for SHDA. I would like to thank all the Board and Committee members that were at the fall Board meeting, I am excited for some of the items that were discussed and look forward to seeing those items implemented in for SHDA programs. I would also like to remind everyone to save the date for our 2023 spring meeting in Orlando, Florida the week of April 24. Finally, I would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season and look forward to everything that 2023 has instore.

SHDA Mourns the Passing of Eric Heaton

Eric J. Heaton, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2022. He was born in New Mexico on April 20, 1961.

Eric was employed at IDN-Wilco (formerly Wilco Supply) from February 1981 till his passing. During his tenure, he wore various hats and led the Wilco team as General Manager for many years. He was an inspiration and mentor to all, and will truly be missed.

SHDA Opens the Al Hoffman Memorial Scholarship

Al Hoffman, founder and Past President of SHDA, was for many years a leading figure in the security hardware industry. His two major goals were to help distributors grow while increasing their profitability and to provide an educational forum for our industry. To recognize the great contributions of Al Hoffman, a scholarship has now been created in his name to underwrite UID tuition and allow an SHDA distributor member to participate in this annual program.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Saturday, January 3rd at midnight EST.
